I had such grand ideas in my head of how these photos would be. We took them on Wylder's first trip to the beach, to one of our favourite beaches, and definitely one of our happy places as a family. As a family we adore being by the sea (although Rich does like to have a little moan about sand when we get back to the car!!!) We've taken photos at these pastel beach huts every single summer since Dylan was small, and I was so excited to take our first photos there together as six. Sadly Wylder had other ideas. As did the weather. After weeks of scorching weather, it decided to blow an absolute gale; and while the kite surfers provided the older kids with lots entertainment, the littlest one decided he was having none of it about 5 photos into our little shoot. Oh well, there's always next year, hey?

Oh and incase that doesn't give you enough of a 'behind the scenes' insight into how it all went down. Quinn decided half way through that she needed a wee. Everly was dragging around a quite frankly enormous bit of wood like an overly enthusiastic puppy. And Rich said on more that one occasion that we were wearing too many colours between us, and that we looked like CBeebies presenters. Oh, and my dress was very blowy, and I had to keep a very careful hold of it to ensure I didn't give anyone an eyeful. Fun times! But I know I've said it before, those moments of challenge, laughter, tears and smiles, that go into getting these family photos each month, are part of the charm of it.

I can't wait to see your lovely family portraits shared, so please do add your links below. And if you are sharing your photos on Instagram too then, please make sure you're following me and use #meandmineproject as I will be sharing some of my favourites.

  3. I love your family photos in front of the beach hut. I can imagine trying to get a good photo of the six of you is challenging enough without having to deal with windy weather and children suddenly needing a wee on top of it too! Thanks for hosting the #meandmineproject

  5. I always love your photos in this spot. These are gorgeous, although poor Wylder! That last one is so sweet - those smiles :) It's been surprisingly windy lately hasn't it, and I bet even more so at the beach. I also got caught out with my dress blowing up at the weekend - mine was at our village funfair, so pretty embarrassing right there!

  7. This sounds a lot like our experience too! Apart from ours was our big boy cutting his arm whilst wearing a white linen shirt! Ahhh. Love that we both share the same happy place :)

  9. The photos are still gorgeous despite the weather. Our idea of the July family photo was a lavender farm one and of course it was raining that weekend so we had to take one in the garden

  11. Adorable photos! I had a bit of an issue getting my youngest to comply too - she cries so often ha ha! I managed to get like one or two where she looked not too grumpy :D

  12. I know what you mean about the idea in your head not being what you have to work with. There's usually an unknown surprise in there though that captures the moment all the more for the spontaneous choreography by a small one. So lovely to have that beach hut tradition.
