home life project {january}

2017 will be a year of change for us. Looming on the horizon now is our impending house move. Still so far away that it doesn't seem quite real yet, but coming up fast none the less. This year with see Everly start school, yet another big and important milestone which seems to be racing up to meet us a little faster than I'm fully prepared for. I know from experience that this second year for Quinny, will change her so much; while still a baby now, she really won't seem that way in the not too distant future. Life does hurry on, doesn't it? And it's so exciting, but I do find myself grabbing at it, trying to keep a hold of it; not to slow it down, but just to make sure I took it all in, enjoyed it, remembered it.

These four walls have known our family forever. They could tell our whole story. And it is a strange, "end of an era" type of feeling, to know that we will be moving on soon, to write our stories in different walls instead. And it makes me want to bottle up this time, to keep it safe. Will my children remember living here? In this first place that they called home. In the place where we went from two, to four, then five, six and seven. It was just Rich and I once upon a time. But two fluffy babies, and three human babies later we've definitely created one hell of a story from these walls, we've created a family.

So in an attempt to capture all the change this year, I am taking part in Home Life Project. One day each month, captured in all it's candid and real life glory. All the little moments and details that are so very ordinary, but so very special at the same time. An excuse to indulge in some time behind the camera, committing to photos all those little memories of life in our family. So I give you us... in our little home... in January... in far too many photos, because picking only a few will never be one of my strengths.

^ This toy is Quinn's absolute favourite at the moment. Dylan taught her to do it a few weeks back, and they can often be found together playing with it. He is the sweetest cheerleader for her achievements.

^ Everly has been feeling a little under the weather lately. And snuggling up under a blanket with her Rapunzel doll to watch We're Going On A Bear Hunt are her chosen medicine.

^ She is fascinated by belly buttons at the moment. Crazy little loons.
^ Normally a walk at the park means a ride in the buggy for this one. She was a little bit excited to be "set free".

^ This beautiful park will be our local park when we move house... the kids (and us grown ups too) can't wait!

^ Always as thick as thieves. Their friendship makes me so proud. I hope they always have it.

^ They spotted a squirrel. Possibly the tamest squirrel ever. I swear it would have come right over to say hi if a dog hadn't come past.

To find out more about Home Life Project, check out Maybush Studio for all the details, this project is her baby; and a beautiful one it is too. I'm so excited to take part.

  2. Beautiful photos as always. So many gorgeous Grimms toys too. It's tough leaving your first family home (we did it two years ago). For us it was worth it though as we gained space and a garden which changed our daily life. My eldest starts school this year. Time really does go so fast.

    1. Thank you. We have a slight Grimms obsession going on! And yes, it will be emotional leaving definitely, but we're basically doubling our living space near enough (and gaining a garden finally!) so it will absolutely be worth it. x

  5. Gosh I LOVE these photos! I think you are going to inspire me to try new things with my pictures this year. Not photo related, but thinking of your impending move did you ever see Xanthe's short film she did about their old house just before they moved. I saw it a couple of years ago at Blogtacular and only remember it loosely, but I think it was an interview with her boys and then their audio was layered with still images of the house, a really lovely idea. Also I know what you mean about the changes between 1 and 2, literally in the last week Alice has suddenly become a child not a baby, I keep looking long and hard at her and trying to pin down what has so suddenly changed.

    1. Awww, thank you. I always love your photos so much, so that means a lot. And yes, I did see Xanthe's video and I definitely want to make something similar full of all our memories of our first home. x

  6. Your photos are beautiful Lucy and I love the mix of indoors and out. Your children are growing so fast but they look so, so close. This is an exciting year for you all and although your house holds your whole story you can take all those memories with you and start a brand new book in your new home. I don't think I realised you had cats - they are beautiful! x
