Something has really clicked with these three over the past month. That's not to say that they didn't click together before, but something subtle has changed and they seem so much of a team now. I think the developments in Quinny's communication are a major factor; she still hardly says anything, but my goodness does that girl know how to make her feelings known. She giggles so freely, she leans in spontaneously for kisses and cuddles, she will join in with chase games, and enjoys mimicking. All those things which are the beginnings of play, and the beginnings of friendship.
These photos are from our weekend away in Norfolk. I always think that time travelling and away from home makes sibling bonds stronger. They had an extended weekend of together time, and they blossomed. With no school, clubs or other distractions, it was all about play and entertaining one another. And it just reminded Rich and I how good time away is for our family, and also how much we are going to love two full weeks all together over Christmas.
Looking at these photos will always remind me of how Dylan and Everly were snuggled up together on the sofa, and how Quinny toddled over, as ever wanting to be a part of the gang. And when I suggested that she come up and sit on the sofa with them, the older two simply moved apart without being asked, to make room for their little sis to nestle safely in the middle. It was a simple gesture, one they didn't think twice about, but one that spoke such volumes to me, and made me so proud.
And so they sat, all three. Like three little peas in a pod; not quite the same, but not so different either. Watching the television together in companionable silence. Until they spotted Mummy's camera and the smiles came out.
And with that The Siblings Project for 2016 is complete...! Where on earth did that year go? The whole 'team of three thing' was still so new at the beginning of the year, but they've found their stride this year and their relationships go from strength to strength. So allow me to indulge in a little trip down memory lane; it is December after all!
Do pop by my cohosts (Katie, Carie, Keri-Anne and Amber) and see the sibling photos and moments that they are sharing this month too. And you can link yours up at the bottom. Feel free to grab the badge for your posts. And if you're sharing your photos on instagram make sure you use #siblingsproject so that we can find them there too.

ReplyDeleteAww, what lovely photos, they do look so very right together as a threesome, completely at ease with each other and it's so lovely to see. I know what you mean about development playing a huge part in it, there's that point where the littlest one can join in with the big games and it changes their relationships almost overnight, the baby sibling goes from being a real life dolly to a companion - it tends to mean more chaos with us, but it's totally worth it!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh Lucy! It is basically like watching Quinny grow up in that roundup! Love their little faces in the second photo down :) x

ReplyDeleteThey look so comfortable all together, it sounds like they have a great relationship - I wonder if it's easier because Dylan and Everly are already used to being siblings? Gabe is 16 months now and I think Toby is still adjusting to having a brother!
