After a very big and exciting eleventh adventure, I knew that we were going to need something to cheer us up on our post Disney holiday come down. So a little while back I booked us a day at a beach hut for the week after our holiday, I thought it would be a nice little kick start to the Easter break, I crossed my fingers that some nice Spring weather might come our way, and figured that whatever happened at least we'd get some fresh air and I could feed my beach hut obsession a bit.
Well not only did it not rain, but it wasn't even cold (like the weather man said it would be), and the children and I enjoyed a blissful and simple day together at the seaside. It's actually pretty rare that I would take the children out on a day like this on my own; normally Daddy is there, or friends, or family. Rich was really disappointed that he couldn't come on our little adventure because he was off to the football, but I actually really relished some time just us three. I was a teeny bit anxious about taking the children down onto the beach on my own, but they were angels the whole day. It was honestly a little piece of heaven and exactly what the doctor ordered in regards to lifting our post holiday blues and starting off our Easter holidays in style.
I discovered Millie's Beach Huts on Facebook, and they were just setting up business hiring out their two beach huts (Millie and Harley) at Walton on Sea in Essex, and were offering discounted rates for their opening months. I emailed my interest and booked us in, not realising at the time that we were to be the very first ever guests. What an exciting responsibility! And one we took very seriously... making sure we explored every nook and cranny, played with every game and toy, read every book. And we were not disappointed.
The sunshiny yellow Harley beach hut had absolutely everything we could have possibly needed for a day at the seaside. All the usuals like buckets and spades for the beach, deckchairs for lounging on the deck, and facilities for making hot drinks and simple meals. But it also went above and beyond that... with pirate and seaside themed books and games for the children, a pop up tent, a selection of magazines, blankets for snuggling if it got chilly, a collection of Cath Kidston crockery that made me very excited, and it was all styled so very beautifully.
I want to point out that I wasn't asked to write about our day, and I paid for it myself. But I took a bajillion photos because it was so beautiful and I couldn't wait to share them all with you. Do get in touch with Millie's Beach Huts if you want a lovely day on the Essex coast... I'm sure they're booking up fast for the summer.
