I've said it before,
but I just love the seaside.
My husband and I met and fell in love at the seaside,
and something about being near the sea just feels so right somehow.
So a sunny day
and our first quiet weekend in a month,
and the coast was calling us,
with it's promise of feeling warm sand between our toes,
getting to paddle in the sea,
and maybe a sneaky ice cream too.
We had a lovely time,
it was just beautiful.
The beautiful boy told us repeatedly that he had had a lovely time,
and asked at bedtime if he could go again tomorrow.
And the hubby and I spent the drive home
talking and dreaming about a home looking out at the sea.
The beautiful girl isn't keen on paddling in the sea as it turns out,
so we've found a water that this water baby isn't a fan of.
She loved playing in the sand,
although not quite as much as she loved the ice creams.
But her brother more than made up for her water hesitance,
by diving head first, fully clothed into a wave.
(And at a moment when Mummy didn't have the camera rolling
which we think was rather inconsiderate of him!)
Who needs fancy foreign holidays,
when you have these beautiful spots in your very own county?
We've got a list of lovely summer days out the list of our arms
and we're starting early with ticking them off.
But after such a beautiful blue sky beachy day,
I think we'll be adding a few more seaside trips to that list.
…Well we need to convince this little girly of ours that the sea is fun!
Oh what a gorgeous day out, it's no surprise your two are water babies, the sea is clearly in their blood - I LOVE all the kites too, so beautiful to see them all together! We've had our two on the beach this last weekend and Kitty was just desperate to get into the water. Elma on the other hand was much happier walking in circles with the occasional paddle, but they were both such little sandy babies it made me wish we lived nearer!
ReplyDeleteIt was such a beautiful day, and the kites were such an amazing surprise. We literally walked around a corner and the sky was full of them, the kids were mesmerised. x
DeleteLove this, I really want to invest in a GoPRo! How long does it take you to edit the movie? In iMovie? Love your blog x
ReplyDeleteAhhh, thank-you. Now, I can edit a movie together in iMovie in 2-3hours, but they used to take me AGES, like a couple of evenings to finish one. It's one of those things you get quicker at with practise I think. x
DeleteLook at that bright blue sky. We love the seaside must take more videos though x
ReplyDeleteIt was such a bright blue sky, which was why we couldn't stay at home when there was seaside to enjoy. x
DeleteAh I love this Lucy, looks like you had a similar idea to us and thought that the day was too lovely to be wasted. You are so lucky living near(ish) to the coast, I wish we did. I love beach days, we had one a couple of months back but definitely need another one soon. Perhaps we could all meet for the day and go together. I still would love to visit those candy beach huts that you have been to a few times. x
ReplyDeleteSunny days and blue skies are definitely too good to be wasted. We should definitely book in a beach trip before the summer is out, the children would love it. x
DeleteWe love visiting the beach and thankfully our little man now loves it. Every time we put on his shark shoes he asks to go to the beach. Very cute little video, your little lady is growing so fast.
ReplyDeleteThe seaside is just my favourite place on earth, we just need to convince the little miss that the sea is her friend. x
DeleteI'm looking forward to a proper trip to the beach, we haven't been on one yet. Love the video. Matt has a GoPro, I really need to persuade him to let me borrow it, he's very protective over it! x
ReplyDeleteWe kind of went with the mindset of only staying an hour or so, but ended up exploring and strolling and paddling for hours. It was lovely. And you should definitely borrow his go pro for a little play, they are good fun. x
DeleteOh what a lovely day out at the beach. I am so very jealous. You are so lucky to live somewhere so near to the beach. It's stunning. There is nothing better than sand between your toes for sure. I grew up on the river and we have sandy beaches where I am from it's amazing. Loving all your video posts lately. They are amazing!!! You are really good at it.
ReplyDeleteOh I just love the sea, it really would be my dream to live by the coast. Three years by the sea at university has just made me want it more. And thank-you, I'm glad you like the videos. I'm absolutely loving making them. x
DeleteThank you so very much for linking up to Share With Me. What an honor to have one of my favorite bloggers on my linky. It truly has made my day. Loved this post too. Great one to share!!!! #sharewithme
DeleteWe love the beach, kids love getting sand between their toes and splashing around in the sea, your so lucky to live so close to the beach.
ReplyDeleteWhat's not to love, right? So much fun and such a simple pleasure. We'd go all the time if we could. x
DeleteLovely film. Lovely memories. xxx
ReplyDeleteAhh thanks Xanthe, that means a lot coming from you. x
DeleteBeautiful little movie! Love it! Looks like the perfect day at the seaside!
ReplyDeleteThank-you, it was. We had a lovely day. x

ReplyDeleteIt was a perfect sunny day, we couldn't let a sunny day like that go to waste. x
DeleteAnother beautiful family video. They are going to love watching them back when there older :) xx
ReplyDeleteThank-you! We already love watching them back, and my ones from last year already seem like a million years ago. So glad I'm capturing some of their childhoods on film. x
DeleteWe love the seaside too, we go to Filey in Yorkshire every year without fail and no matter what the weather is like we always have a good time, it's a special place for us and holds lots of special memories. Loved your video :) #sharewithme
ReplyDeleteAhhhh, Filey has such lovely memories for me. The hubby and I met in Scarborough, best beaches ever! And I agree, rain or shine the beach is always fun. x
DeleteIt is lovely watching this on such a wet day. Yes - I remember now - there is sometimes sun. Gorgeous video and love that song xx #sharewithme
ReplyDeleteHahaha, I know, how quickly did the weather change? Glad you liked it. x
DeleteWhat a fantastic video, it looks like it captured a beautiful family day out. We have just moved to be by the coast and can't wait for the weather to warm up so we can enjoy some beach days too :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fab day. I agree - holidays abroad are lovely but I do love the English countryside. It's quite stunning and all my family holidays growing up were in this country and I have the most amazing memories :) #sharewithme
ReplyDeleteLucas says - My favourite place is the seaside too. I love it so much and as we live so far away from the seaside, it's a real treat when we do go :) #sharewithme
ReplyDeleteI'm sure she will come to love the sea as you do. What a beautiful post!
ReplyDeletex x
With a little bit of sunshine we really do have the world at our feet during summertime in Britain don't we? So many amazing places to visit. I love being by the sea even though I grew up in South West London and live in North East Hampshire now. I lived in Brighton during my first degree and I loved the way the sea was never the same colour or texture two days running. X #sharewithme
ReplyDeleteLooks and sounds so lovely. My kids love the seaside, but as we live in the Midlands, coastal trips are few and far between. Hope you get that sea view house one day x #CountryKids
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely video of family fun at the beach. As you say who needs expensive holidays abroad when you have access to some beautiful beaches right here in the UK. Thanks for linking up and sharing your fun with Country Kids.
