Every afternoon these two have a patch of what can only be described as crazy time.
They go, quite frankly, a little bit bonkers.
It's that funny period of time between nap time and dinner time,
and as often as possible I'll try to get us out of the house at this time
so that they can properly let of steam.
It's exhausting,
but honestly, there is something about that time of day
which is totally full of magic
and an undefinable quality that I wish I could bottle up and keep forever.
This is the time of day when they really play together.
They will chase each other,
up and down, and round and round,
all while squealing with laughter
and occasionally falling into full blown hysteria.
They get so noisy and so over-excited.
And it would be so easy for me to get annoyed,
to try and stop the racket,
and sit them down to do something quietly instead.
But it's in those moments every afternoon
that I see so clearly
why having more than one child was so important to us as a family.
Because they quite simply adore each other;
as they laugh and chase and share smiles,
and delight in a crazy game that we'll never quite understand,
but which is theirs.
So long may our crazy afternoons continue
because the sound of their combined laughter
is the best sound on earth.
I can't begin to tell you
how happy and how proud I am seeing your Sibling photos linked up each month.
So many different dynamics and relationships,
but definitely something special and tangible that links them all too.
It really does make my day looking through them all
and I can't wait to see what you all have to link up this month.
This month I am sending you to see Katie at Mummy Daddy Me.
Her little girls are just the cutest pair of sisters,
and I'm lucky enough to know them in real life
and know they are every bit as sweet and lovely as they appear in Katie's photos.
So go and check her Siblings out
and follow the circle around to see all the other hosts too.
Oh, beautiful photos! My two have their crazy times, too, and whilst they can be exhausting, you're right about the laughter x
ReplyDeleteI think a lot of kids have that same crazy time of day. Sometimes it's nice to sit back and just let them do it and enjoy all the laughter. x
DeleteThese are BEAUTIFUL. It's raining here today and seeing these has reminded me how wonderful the weather has been up until now.
ReplyDeleteThey look so cute in their matching colours x
Thanks lovely. They are certainly very sunshiny with the yellow flowers. I'm a bit sad all the yellow rapeseed is starting to disappear again, it's so cheerful to see as you're driving along. x
Deleteahhh gorgeous photos of your two cuties :) It's so nice watching their bond and how much they are there for each other. So sweet x
ReplyDeleteThanks, it's certainly lovely watching their relationship change as they grow. We are lucky that they adore each other so much. x
Deleteperfect! I am so guilty of asking my boys to "slow down" "come down" "stop shouting"... I need to let them be crazy a little more :)
ReplyDeleteIt's tricky isn't it? Your instincts are to try and keep them quiet so much of the time, but it's in all that noisy, craziness that they have the most fun. x
DeleteThese are beyond beautiful Lucy. I always love seeing them together, they have the most amazing bond x
ReplyDeleteThank-you lovely. Their bond is really coming into it's own the bigger they get. I can't get enough of watching them interact. x
DeleteAww they are so cute. Beautiful pictures. x
ReplyDeleteThanks lovely. x
DeleteOoooh, I LOVE that middle shot. And aren't they starting to look so alike??
ReplyDeleteI think that ones my favourite too. And yes, they do look more alike now I think, definitely related that's for sure. x
DeleteGorgeous photos Lucy especially love the middle one, I love when my two play silly games and laugh hysterically, it's wonderful to watch them isn't it
ReplyDeleteThanks. Yes, watching them play silly games and get hysterical is so fantastic. They are so happy doing things together. x
DeleteLovely photos of your two in May!!! As always I am inspired. Love the hat! They really are getting to be the same size. So cute. Your little girl must be so taller for her age. Beautiful location. I have been looking for bluebells near me with no luck whatsoever. Boo. And my two are really getting testing if I try to take their picture and they know it. I really need to get more organized next month. We have the same witch hour I call it. And it is much easier when we are out and about running that steam off. I can relate there so much. Love how a group of regular sibling linkers are recommending who to go to next in the siblings photo project. You are so creative and always keep us all reading more!!! great idea!!! #sibling
ReplyDeleteI think that crazy hour is a bit of common thing judging by a lot of the comments. It's so funny. x
DeleteAwww! She had a proper glint of mischief in that top photo that made me giggle! DBB is looking uber-cool in that hat - love this linky Lucy x
ReplyDeleteShe has a proper glint of mischief because she was probably thinking something mischievous. She's a real cheeky one. And the hat was a last minute save, he wanted to wear a wooly hat so we compromised on the straw hat. x
DeleteBeautiful photos, Lucy. It's that mischief hour, isn't it? It can go either way in my house. The boys either end up rolling on the floor tickling and giggling with each other or it's a tantrum stand-off that has me standing in the window desperate for my husband to come home. Luckily, the latter are few and far between.
ReplyDeleteYes, it does seem to be a familiar occurrence for parents with little ones. Like you say it can so easily go either way. x
DeleteSo true. When my girls laugh is the best sound in the whole world. Beautiful pictures. Your little ones are growing up so fast!
ReplyDeleteIt's the best, definitely. Totally heart warming. x
DeleteSo sweet!!
ReplyDeleteWe have that time too, it can get a little nuts! Especially if the weather doesn't permit outside play.
Hahaha, yes, nuts is the right word for it. It's definitely easier when we can schedule in a late afternoon walk to the park. x
DeleteWhat gorgeous photos! We have a crazy time in our house between 4 and 6 - it is so noisy!
ReplyDeleteThank-you. And that's the same time as us. It's bonkers! x
DeleteI love this post! I was just saying to Hubby that I can't wait for Little Man to be a few months older, to walk and run with his sister and for them to be able to properly play together. I'm looking forward to that crazy time! x
ReplyDeleteIt was a real turning point for them both, when she got up and started walking. It was like they became equals and playmates at that point. I'm sure it will be the same for your two. x
DeleteOh that sounds like out late afternoons - and like you I try to get us outside if at all humanly possible! These are gorgeous pictures, and I think you've really captured the spark of mischief between them, they just look like they're having so much fun!
ReplyDeleteThey really were having fun when I took these photos, they kept running away and hiding. Made my photographing job slightly trickier, but worth it for the cute and cheeky results. x
DeleteHow lovely they have this time each day, I am sure some days it must be UGH, but it is lovely they play so close x
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! Some days I'd really like a quiet afternoon, but they are so cute playing together. x
DeleteAh they are so sweet together! My two just get tired and moan like hell in that couple of hours before dinner, it's a nightmare! The second photo is so sweet, it looks like she's being a little mummy and looking after him x
ReplyDeletelook at them they are just the cutest. i love her little legs in those shorts so so squidgy. they look like they have a good time together
ReplyDeleteThese are just so beautiful! They are getting so big nowadays, it has been so lovely having watch them grow so far x
ReplyDeleteI've said it before and i'll say it again im sure but BB and BG make me so so excited to see Paige with her little brother. Gorgeous pictures as always sweetie xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos. It is just the best that they play so well together, for us, it is just those days where tempers are a little more close and it can turn from laughter to tears in seconds. And yet, of course, more often than not it is the best.
ReplyDeleteThey are just so cute and dinky in that big field! I adore this linky but not managed to join in until now! I've been saving my pictures because they are just right for this. I MUST try and get them together more often :)
ReplyDeleteLove his little hat, he looks so dapper!
ReplyDeleteAh yes... melt down o'clock! I'm glad it's not just us!! Your two look like such besties in these pics :)
ReplyDeleteThat middle photo of them is so sweet, they look so little next to the flowers. And so summery too! x
ReplyDeleteThese photos are just beautiful. I love the last one, with them just strolling along together.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos, looks like a lovely place for them to let of some steam too! x
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful photos of your gorgeous children. We've had lots of fun in the yellow fields this month too xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos lucy, that second one in particular is just stunning and captures the relationship between BB and BG perfectly! I love seeing how loving they are towards each other! xxx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pics. Seeing the friendship and love between siblings is so very special :-) xx
ReplyDeleteAwww, thanks sweetie. It's definitely so much more fun now they can have crazy time together. x
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous pictures! I am new to sibling relationship with my kids and took the liberty to join this amazing project (hope thats ok!) ...but the power of sibling relationship has given me goosebumps :) xx
ReplyDeleteAh, gotta love crazy time... as long as you don't have a headache!! Just snuck in again this month, hanging on in there ;)
