It was a real effort getting our photos this month.
We were all dressed up nicely for a wedding,
and I so wanted a photo of us all looking so fancy.
But (newsflash!) weddings when you have small children,
are really quite stressful.
Add a hefty helping of rain to that wedding,
meaning that your toddlers are stuck indoors all day,
and it is pretty tricky to get any kind of decent photos,
let alone nice family ones.
My lovely parents came to collect our overtired children
so that they could go home to bed,
and the hubby and I could enjoy the evening reception a bit more
(although we were so shattered after a day of kiddy wrangling
that we only managed to stay until 10.30pm before we flaked out.
Party animals we are not!)
But before they left, my dad snapped a few pictures of us.
And I'm glad we made that little effort in the midst of a busy day,
even if my little lady was so tired she was about to fall asleep in my lap,
because it isn't every day we get all scrubbed up so nicely.
This month I'm sending you to visit the ever-so-talented Lucy at Capture By Lucy.
Her family have had one hell of a month this month,
as after months of searching, they have found their forever home and had their offer accepted.
You're sure to find lovely photos of her lovely family,
and lots more to inspire you besides.
And do come and link up your May family photos,
we love looking at them all and seeing you share your families.
Love that first photo...so sweet and precious. I think these natural ones are actually the ones we'll treasure in the long run.
ReplyDeleteI agree, natural and relaxed shots are always my favourite. x
DeleteWeddings with little ones - so not easy! So nice you captured a few cuddles though! Loving the month you've had. You've made us feel so excited about Alton Towers! Woo Hoo! Thanks for hosting Lucy, hope you have a wonderful June x
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not easy, we were so tired. And you should be excited for Alton Towers, we had such an amazing time. x
DeleteSuch beautiful pictures. Kids at weddings are definitely hard work but it's nice they can join in the celebrations too. Your trip to Alton Towers sounds like so much fun x
ReplyDeleteYes, I wouldn't have not had them there for anything, especially as it was a family wedding and we don't see them that often. Plus they looked so cute all dressed up. x
DeleteI think it's lovely to capture the big moments, and you look like it was a wonderful day; you all look a little tired and very happy - just how weddings should be! I know part of my impetus for joining in Me and Mine is to have pictures that aren't just taken at Christmas, Easter and birthdays, but I want to have those too, even if they aren't quite as 'neat and tidy' as the ones where I can take as many pictures as the family will sit still for!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely!!! One of the reasons Me and Mine started in the first place was that we took a photo of the four of us the day the little lady was born, and then didn't take another one until Christmas when she was three months old. But I think a mixture of the big moments and the everyday moments makes for a nice contrast, and that's what life is all about. x
DeleteWe've yet to go to a wedding with the kids but I can imagine it's a tad stressful! What gorgeous photos though - I think the top one is my favourite. So natural. You recent trip to Alton Towers sounds great fun. I hope to get there this year, not been for well over 10 years and used to love it xx
ReplyDeleteIt was a tad stressful, worth it though (just about) to see the kids dressed up so cute. We had such a great time at Alton Towers, we were so impressed with how much the kids could enjoy it too. x
Deleteyeah i feel your pain, we also had a wedding this month, i forgot the camera so that rule that one out. lovely photo's all the same
ReplyDeleteWeddings are hard work with kids, aren't they? I'm glad I've got the photos though, I can show them to the kids in years to come and tell them how harassed we all were. ;) x
DeleteYou are such a gorgeous family - I do love wedding photos as everyone is dressed up but you're right in that weddings with children are very stressful! x
ReplyDeleteI love that we have a photo of us all dressed up, it's such a rarity. x
DeleteReally love these. Some of my favourite photos are of us all dressed really smart. How cute is BB in his suit!
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time we've all been dressed up together, but it was so nice, and I'm glad we have a photo of it. x
DeleteAhh you all look gorgeous - what a handsome family you have Lucy!
ReplyDeleteI have only ever done a wedding with one child which is always stressful - two gives me the fear *shudders*
Lovely of you parents to come pick them up though so you could relax and enjoy the evening :) x
Ahh, thanks lovely, we scrub up okay! We were so grateful to my parents, all of us. By the time they came the children were miserable and we were shattered. x
DeleteGorgeous photos, you all look lovely. And weddings with kids are such hard work!! x
ReplyDeleteThanks lovely, it was so nice to have an excuse to all get dressed up. x
DeleteYour little boy looks too darn cute, know what you mean about the aftershave though. It's amazing how a smell can instantly transport you back to a place and time isn't it?
ReplyDeleteDefinitely. I'm sure they say that smell is your strongest sense when it comes to memory recall. It's so funny how it takes me right back just because he's wearing an old smell. x
DeleteLovely photos and I really like your hair!
ReplyDeleteAhh, thanks lovely. I really liked my hair too, I want to wear flowers in my hair all the time now. x
DeleteLucy your family photos here are beautiful. Yes all dressed up fancy is perfect moment to capture but I fear I will be like you tomorrow franticly trying to get a photo of the four of us from the christening /bday party and it will be tired squirming kids. I always find having my kids a lot of work at weddings. So hard to wrangle them inside that long too if it's raining outside. Bless you. Hahaha Couldn't help to laugh that you had a kid free night at a wedding and you went in at 10:30 SOOO something Mr P and I would do. haha No party animals here. Look forward to linking up. I struggled with my family photos this week, had the location, the weather and the participants weren't participating including that eye rolling hubby of mine. Boo.
ReplyDeleteHahaha, this is why I had Katie come and take photos at the little lady's first birthday. It took the pressure off me and I knew I'd still have great photos at the end. x
DeleteYour all look lovely! It's a beautiful family photo xx
ReplyDeleteAhhh, thanks sweetie. x
DeleteAbsolutely gorgeous photos. I love the relaxed, end of the day look!
ReplyDeleteThank-you. I think it was more 'tired' than 'relaxed', but it was lovely to capture a moment of us being together all dressed up smart. x
DeleteWeddings with youngsters are really hard work! Your pictures are lovely! Sounds like you all had an amazing time at Alton Towers!! Love catching up with you and your family every month!!
ReplyDeleteSuch hard work, we were exhausted at the end. And Alton Towers was amazing fun, we loved it. x
DeleteLovely photos as usual Lucy, I love the last one :) Weddings with young kids can be hard. Love how Daddy and BB are matching
ReplyDeleteThanks lovely. I made the hubby buy a three piece suit specially so that they could match (and also because he looked so handsome in it!) ;) x
DeleteGorgeous photo's, you all look lovely :)
ReplyDeleteAhhh, thanks so much. x
DeleteLovely pictures sweetie x
ReplyDeleteThanks lovely. x
DeleteJust beautiful, xx
ReplyDeleteThank-you lovely. x
DeleteThese are beautiful. You all look so lovely xx
ReplyDeleteThanks lovely, it was lovely to get all dressed up. x
DeleteCongrats on being a finalist!
ReplyDeleteYou all look so nice dressed up for the wedding. :)
Thank-you. And thank-you again. ;) x
DeleteFinally commenting on this as when I was commenting on the others I was either on my phone or iPad and for some reason both my phone and iPad hate your blog, it's so odd. I think these photos are lovely, you all look gorgeous dressed up and smart, I especially love BB in his suit. So nice to get dressed up occasionally, although I agree that weddings are just a bit stressful with kids. You have had such a busy May and have a busy June to enjoy too! x
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to have an excuse to dress up every now and again, it was especially nice to have the kids in such smart outfits, they looked so cute. x
DeleteIt's ALWAYS a challenge getting my two to cooperate for a photo! You all look super sassy and elegant here. Well done for pinning them down long enough to capture it!
ReplyDeleteThank-you. We picked the right time to pin them down, they were too tired to protest. x
DeleteLovely photo of you all- you look very glamourous!! Well done on the BiBs - I'm a Finalist too for Video so I will be sure to see you on the night!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, it will be good to meet you at BritMums, I'm looking forward to it. x
DeleteYou have such a gorgeous family, and it's always lovely to get dressed up! And yey for a bit of adult time too x
ReplyDeleteThanks lovely, it was so nice to have some adult time, even if we did crash out early. x
DeleteThese are lovely photos, although I don't envy you with two small ones at a wedding. We've only taken the kids once to a family wedding and Eli was a tiny baby so didn't really present too much of a problem. Meg snoring in the middle of the ceremony was a bit uncomfortable though...! Sounds like you've had a brilliantly busy month too.
