one day

If there is one thing that being a parent has taught me
it's that life goes in a flash once you have children.
It seems barely last week that we were newlyweds
moving into our first home
and bringing home our fluffy babies to play house.
And I sometimes look at our life
with our two beautiful children
and wonder how on earth we got here.

Life with two children is a series of "pinch-me-I-must-be-dreaming" moments
but it's also about just that; life.
And life looks different in each family.
Life also looks different from one month to the next when your children are tiny.

And like most parents
I am desperate to keep a hold of these baby days
and to remember every detail
because I know how fleeting childhood is.

So this video is an attempt at recording a day.
One day.
A family day.
With an adventure to the farm,
but also with all the normal bits that make up our every days.
Because making these memories is important.

This post was sponsored by Endsleigh insurance
who sent us a kit to make a time capsule.
This video is just a part of that time capsule.

Endsleigh offer life insurance
which is so important when you have children.
You can find out more about life insurance here.
Life is fragile
and you never know what's around the corner,
which is why insurance is important
and is why making and recording memories is so close to my heart.

  1. This video is absolutely lovely! I think my favourite bit is R and DBB bouncing on whatever that thing is. Every time I see lovely videos I really realise I should take some more. I took hundreds of Mads but I have hardly taken any of LL as I have got more into my 'big' camera. I must do more. x

    1. I've always been really bad about forgetting to video. I tend to video the really significant things like first food and first steps but not a lot else. It's my mission to get more video of my kiddies while they are teeny. x

  2. The boys bouncing is absolutely hilarious and I love how your beautiful girl seems so unconcerned by the camera . Your wee man is very good as well my wee man is always on the run and getting videos are a tad difficult. What camera are you using to film? (on a side note are you signed up to vimeo to do your videos like this?)

    1. The little miss has had to get used to a camera in her face from a young age!!! Haha. The little man is pretty good, although he does just tend to ignore the camera entirely these days. This suits me though as I prefer more natural shots of him.
I just used the HD film function on my DSLR to film this. And Vimeo is just a hosting service, a bit like YouTube, which is a free sign up. x

  4. I love this. Fabbbbulous idea Lucy. I love how your little girl is sitting up on your lap when you are reading them their bedtime story.
Did you do something different with how you filmed it?
I love getting lots of different ideas from reading the blogs that I read. I hope you do another one soon xx

    1. Ahhh thank-you. She sits with us every evening for story time. I read a bedtime book with the little guy from a young age and he's always books, I like to get my kids started on stories nice and young.
I used my DSLR to film it, nothing spectacular or exciting. And don't worry I think I have the video bug so I'm sure I'll make another. x

  5. I recognise that farm! Did your little boy have a go at milking the cow? I love the bouncy pillow too, it is sooo much fun. Such a lovely video

    1. Hahaha. Yes, you probably do! He wasn't interested in the cow milking, he just wanted to keep moving the whole time.
And I'm definitely getting a go on the bouncy pillow next time, I was on baby girl duty (and camera duty) this time. x

  6. Oh I'm keen to do a time capsule, and I'm going to do more videos of just us, not for blog hits or seo, just so it's a realistic portrayal of our lives to look back on :)

    1. I kind of think my blog is a bit like a time capsule, and I'm definitely going to do more video too. It somehow feels more real than photos and really shows what the kiddos are like. x

  10. This is fantastic. You take such beautiful photos but it's nice to see the 'real' you. If that makes sense.
I love the way you've put this together, and the song is lovely too xx

    1. I know exactly what you mean. Video is more real and it's lovely to have it to help us remember exactly how the children were at this stage. x
