The beautiful boy is one happy chappy.

He was sent a brilliant new 3-in-1 trike by Little Tikes to review

and despite the less than outdoorsy weather we've had lately,

he's really been enjoying taking it out for a spin.

Children tend to smile with everything they have.

My beautiful boy smiles from his eyes first.

He always has done.

As a baby he would smile with half his mouth

and then it would spread to the other side gradually.

But it was always there in his eyes.

Breastfeeding is hard.

I think any one who has breastfed will tell you

that in the early days it hurts

. . . a lot.

And anything that can make those early days a little better has to be a good thing.

big brother

Becoming a big brother or sister is kind of a big deal.

Your entire world changes in an instant.

You have to share your mummy and daddy.

You get someone to share your childhood with.

And I think it worries most second-time parents,

at least a little bit,

to think of all the big changes to their first born's existence.

There is nothing as beautiful and peaceful on this earth

as watching a baby sleep.

I watch both my babies sleeping before I head to bed myself each night,

they look so innocent, perfect and totally relaxed in their slumber

and it send me happily into the land of nod to see them looking so precious.

My beautiful boy is currently in a really 'musical' phase.

He dances constantly,

he sings a lot,

he will stop in his tracks if he hears any sort of music

and will bust out some of his best moves.

Up on his tip toes,

bending his knees,

and swinging his arms.

It's cute and hilarious in equal measure.

Four weeks had flown by in a flash.

fleeting moments

I have no doubt that I am more chilled out as a mummy of a newborn this time around.

I hate to hear her cry but I don't frantically jump up at the slightest whimper.

I'm more relaxed about the advice I'm given because I have some experience of my own to call on.

But I think the main reason I'm so much more chilled this time is
because I know how temporary it all is;
how fleeting this first stage of life is;
how quickly it is over and long forgotten.

One of the best things about being a toddler

has to be that every single toy

has infinite possibilities.

When you can't read the instructions on how to play with something

the possibilities for how you actually play with it are endless.

What may look like a basket

makes a very fetching hat.

What may look like a box of mini books

can be used to creat towers or to practise balancing.

What looks like an activity cube

makes a great hiding place.

three weeks new

You were growing and changing so much.

mummy of two

It still feels weird to think of myself as a mummy of two.

And two under two at that.

In so many ways it feels like I only just got my head around being a parent,

fullstop.

But now I have two little people relying on me,

looking to me for help and guidance and comfort.

It's an awesome responsibility

and an awesome privilege.

I wonder how long it will take for me to stop having those moments every now and again

where I suddenly go,

"These two perfect babies are mine. How did I get so lucky?"

Because ever since she came home from hospital

one of our cats has been in love with the beautiful girl.

Two weeks seemed to have flown by.

A new colour has come into our house.

A colour which has taken over the shelves, sills and sideboards of our home

in the form of cards and flowers and balloons.
