This week has been a nerve-wracking and exciting one.
I have been featured in not one, but two of our local newspapers
for being a finalist in both the MAD Blog Awards and the BiB Awards.
And there is nothing quite like opening a paper
to find a photo of yourself looking right back at you.
It's a very proud feeling
but a sort of embarrassing feeling,
especially when you were expecting a little story in a column
and not half a page.
But I am exceptionally happy and proud of myself.
I'm so proud that I made the finals in these awards
when I've only been blogging for 11 months.
I still feel so incredibly new a lot of the time
and that makes it amazing to be recognised
alongside blogs that I've read since the beginning
and which were well established before starting a blog even entered my brain.
I also heard the fantastic news this week
that I have been selected to be part of the Bloggers Keynote at the end of BritMums Live in June.
Again, reading the list of bloggers that are also standing up and reading posts
I can't quite believe I made the cut.
Me? My little blog? Really???
But there I am,
on the list.
And so incredibly excited and honoured to have been chosen.
I think its fair to say that blogging has become a big part of my life
and I am so grateful for that.
It's given me a creative outlet
and fueled a passion for writing and photography.
There is a week left to vote in the MAD Blog Awards
so don't waste your chance to vote.
And if you'd like to vote for Dear Beautiful Boy in the photography category
then it would make my year.

ReplyDeleteWell Done you!!! It's a lush picture too :)
ReplyDeleteAhh thanks. The photo didn't come out too badly. X
DeleteYou most certainly should feel proud of yourself- it certainly is an amazing achievement. I feel the same about mine, it hasn't quite sunk in that I am a finalist. I love the coverage too- you will have to hire a body guard for when you go to local baby groups- little man will be famous! ;) x
ReplyDeleteHehehe. Hard to believe I hadn't even started a year ago and now I'm a finalist in two awards, just so weird. And thanks hun, I'm so excited. X

ReplyDeleteVery! Especially when I realised we were on the front cover! But it's all been super exciting and I'm thrilled. Although chances are you won't be seeing me at the MADs as I'll more than likely be at home with a newborn, or a big overdue bump. X

ReplyDeleteThanks so much, I was a bit nervous about the publicity at first but I figured I'm proud so why not shout about it. X
