your twentieth week

You started to wake up in the night.

Our fantastic, sleeping baby.

And we couldn't cope at all.

Why were you awake?

What was wrong with you?

Were we doing something wrong?

Was it teething?

Should we start you on solid food?

Then one night Daddy was talking in his sleep.

And then you woke up.

And Mummy started to wonder.

Perhaps it was time for the big cot.

In your own room.

The very first night, we waited for tears.

There weren't any.

Not yours anyway.

You slept through the night.

And gave us a lay in.

Clearly you loved your big boy bed.

Having fallen in love with playing with your own hands,
it was time for your feet to get a bit of love.

At first you stared at them in a puzzled sort of way.
It seemed like you didn't realise they were yours.

Once you had realised that you could grab them,
they were very quickly in your mouth.

And from then on you spent a lot of time rolling from side to side
as you grabbed your feet and flopped over from your back so you could really play with them.

Mummy took you swimming for the first time.

You were really, really excited in the changing room in your fancy new swimming suit.

So excited that you wouldn't sit still and it took twice the time to get dressed as normal.

When you first went in the water you went very quiet.

You were taking it all in and deciding what you thought.

But within minutes you were smiling.

And chattering.

You enjoyed being moved through the water when you were lying on your back.

You enjoyed holding on to the side and watching the lifeguards in their yellow and red outfits.

You enjoyed splashing in the shallow end.

You enjoyed finding your feet and standing on the bottom.

You enjoyed everything about it.

Out little water baby.
